RIU Hotels & Resorts acquires The Westminster Hotel London for £287m

RIU Hotels & Resorts completed the acquisition of The Westminster Hotel, a prime 464-room freehold hotel located adjacent to the River Thames, Westminster Abbey, and the Houses of Parliament, on 8 January 2026. This was RIU's second London hotel and its thirteenth property in the urban RIU Plaza portfolio. The property was fully renovated in 2021 and had been operating under the Hilton Curio Collection flag. RIU Hotels & Resorts, headquartered in Mallorca, Spain, structured the acquisition through its UK subsidiary and terminated the Hilton Curio Collection franchise agreement. The sellers were a three-party consortium - Westmont Hospitality, BHP, and PPF Real Estate - who had acquired the property in 2017 for approximately £187.5 million. No external financing details disclosed. The acquisition is understood to have been funded from RIU's own resources as part of its urban hotel expansion programme.
